In October 2025, I attended the Collegiate Nature Cinematography Workshop hosted by the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) in Lone Pine, California. Under the mentorship of Scott Smith (IMAX Senior Camera Technician), James Neihouse (IMAX Space DP), and Sean Phillips (IMAX Cinematographer), I received hands-on training in large-format production using both IMAX MSM 9802 65mm film cameras and Certified IMAX ARRI ALEXA LF digital systems. During the workshop, I was trained to load IMAX 15/70mm film magazines in complete darkness (preventing any film exposure) and achieved a loading time of 1 minute and 18 seconds, a job that initially took 8 minutes. I also familiarized myself with the mechanical and operational systems of the MSM 9802 and was trained to competently operate the camera in field conditions.
